The method

We have developed a method that integrates different breathing exercises into the coaching intervention. One of them has the following steps

  • You will be invited to sit comfortably in a chair.
  • Once you are seated and your back is supported, as well as your feet on the floor, you will be invited to close your eyes and take a few big, deep breaths
  • While breathing in, the coach suggests you imagine that the air was filled with a sense of calmness and peace. Then, the coach invites you to try to feel it throughout your body.
  • While breathing out, the coach will propose you imagine that the air is leaving with all your stress and tension.
  • The coach will ask you to use a word or phrase with your breath. As you breathe in, you will be asked to say in your mind, "I breathe in peace and calm."
  • As you breathe out, you will say in your mind, "I breathe out stress and tension."
  • The exercise can last either a few minutes or longer, depending on the need. When you feel that you can go on after some minutes of practicing it, the coach will ask about your feelings, and how was the experience for you.
